Stolbitsa is a method invented in early 20th century by Bulgarian composer and music teacher Boris Trichkov The word "stolbitsa" means "staircase" in Bulgarian. The 12 notes of the octave are presented as 13 steps of a staircase (the first note is repeated twice) and are displayed as bars of different length and color.

There are 12 difficulty levels in the game corresponding to the quantity of notes in octave. We will start from the easiest level 1 where you learn to identify by ear only one note. And then we will gradually continue adding notes one by one up to level 12. So let's start!

Every note has its name. We are starting from the first note that is called Tonic. On the first level you will learn to identify only two of all the 13 notes:

Tonic is the note that is repeated twice. What does this mean? A note is a frequency. That is the amount of times the string vibrates in a second. On the same guitar string you can play different frequencies (that is notes) by changing the length of the string by putting your finger on particular fret. And when the same string with same tension becomes shorter its frequency becomes higher, that is it starts vibrating more often.

The first situation that we will learn to identify by ear is when a string is shortened exactly half. In this case it starts vibrating exactly two times more frequently. For example, if it was 100 times per second before, now it is 200 times per second.

This distance between two notes when one is exactly two times more frequent than another is called Octave. This is the first difference we will learn to hear.

Столбица это метод, который изобрёл в начале 20 века болгарский композитор и музыкальный педагог Борис Тричков Слово "столбица" означает "лесенка" по-болгарски. 12 нот октавы представлены как 13 ступенек лестницы (первая нота повторяется 2 раза) и отображаются как линии разной длины и цвета.

В игре 12 уровней сложности, соответственно количеству нот в октаве. Мы начнем с самого легкого первого уровня, где мы научимся определять на слух только одну ноту. И затем постепенно будем добавлять по одной ноте, пока не дойдем до завершающего 12-го уровня. Давайте начнем!

У каждой ноты есть свое название. Первая нота, с которой мы начинаем обучение, называется Тоника. На первом уровне вы научитесь различать только 2 ноты из 13-ти:

Тоника - это та нота, которая повторяется дважды. Как это понять? Нота - это частота. То есть количество колебаний, которое струна совершает за одну секунду. На одной и той же гитарной струне можно сыграть много разных частот (то есть нот) укорачивая струну, путем прижатия ее пальцем к определенному ладу. А когда та же самая струна с тем же самым натяжением, становится короче, ее частота становится больше, т.е. она начинает колебаться чаще.

Когда струна укорачивается ровно наполовину, она начинает звучать с частотой ровно в 2 раза больше. Т.е. например, было 100 раз в секунду, стало 200.

Такое расстояние между двумя нотами, когда одна из них совершает ровно в 2 раза больше колебаний в секунду, чем другая, называется Октавой. Это первое расстояние, которое мы научимся определять на слух.
